Poitiers Basket 86 will play its first match in the Arena Futuroscope on April 12 against Lyon

They dreamed of it since the very announcement of the construction of the Arena, a room awaited for years in Vienna. The leaders of Poitiers Basket 86 will be able to play a championship match in the brand new enclosure that has just come out of the ground near the Futuroscope. The PB just announced it on social media this Wednesday. It will only be five days after the inauguration of the room : Poitiers will release its new floor on April 12 against Lyon. The first tickets will go on sale from March 28.

Poitiers will therefore play its last home game of phase 2 in the new setting, in a configuration that remains to be determined. The Arena Futuroscope can accommodate between 3,300 and 5,200 spectators depending on the gauge selected. For this first, the leaders of PB 86 are already waiting for the first feedback in terms of ticket sales to set the ceiling for this meeting.

If the public’s enthusiasm is there, the attendance record for a basketball game in Poitiers could be beaten. The biggest crowd of the club’s history dates back to 2010 with the reception of Gravelines-Dunkerque at the exhibition center. 4,700 spectators gathered at the Arena to support their team.

Volleyball and handball to come

The Arena Futuroscope is labeled “Games Preparation Center” and will receive, from May 16 to 31, a preparation course for the French men’s volleyball team, just before the National Volleyball League to be held in Ottawa on June 6. During this course, a friendly match, against the Netherlands, is scheduled for May 27 or 29. This partnership could be renewed until 2024 with both women’s and men’s teams. The Olympic handball team is announced for a match at the beginning of 2023.
