Hamburg – First matchday in the 2. Women’s Bundesliga. The Hamburger SV traveled to newly promoted 1. FC Union Berlin and brought a 2:2 draw back from the capital. In front of 5,508 spectators (a record for the league) in the Alte Försterei, Mia Büchele (7th) put the Red Shorts in front with a penalty. Before the break, Dina Orschmann (22nd) equalised for the “Iron Ladies” with a dream goal into the corner and just five minutes later her twin sister Katja scored the lead for the promoted team with a long-range shot from almost the same position. Vildan Brothers (68.) scored the point for Hamburg.
Krüger hits the post
Both clubs want to join the Bundesliga. HSV missed out on a place in the top flight last season as a newly promoted team. The hosts had the better chances in the first half and hit the crossbar. Things went better for the North Germans after the break. Krüger (54th minute) hit the post. In the end, it was a fair draw.
“Found a good mix”
“We repeatedly played out dominant phases in which we controlled the game, especially in the first few minutes and in the second half. Overall, we found a good mix of team spirit, willingness to suffer and joy in playing,” said Hamburg coach Marwin Bolz after the game on the club homepage.
Home games in Norderstedt
Next Sunday, his team will continue with a home game. On Sunday at 2 p.m., FSV Gütersloh will come to the club’s grounds in Norderstedt. Almost all of the games will probably be played there. The Eimsbüttel sports park is currently being renovated and is not available.
