Pointing to date: – Milestone

Geir Bukholm, director of infection control at the National Institute of Public Health, tells Dagbladet that he expects that we will soon have vaccinated everyone in the risk groups and everyone over the age of 45 in Norway.

– We are approaching that time now. Very many municipalities should have gotten there by the end of this month, ie around 20 June or a few days ahead, says Bukholm and adds:

– Then we have reached an important milestone, we think.

Bukholm believes that this can lead to relief.

– This means that you can facilitate measures to a greater extent. This is because the risk groups have been vaccinated, and those who have not been vaccinated are people who become ill to a much lesser extent.

– More important than before

Minister of Health Bent Høie tells Dagbladet that it is very good, and at the same time points to another and more close milestone.

– Monday or Tuesday we reach an important milestone: Then two million people in Norway have received their first vaccine dose. Even though we have had a slight delay in the vaccination program, the vaccination in Norway is very fast and gives results.

– What does this mean for the burden of measures and the proportionality of the measures?

– There is something that is important, and that is more important than before. Now that we are considering when we can implement step three of the reopening plan, the progress of the vaccination counts more than before, and the infection situation is no longer so important. These factors are weighted against each other together with the burden on the health service. So we look at all these three factors.

When can you get vaccinated?

The pace of vaccination is different around the country. Check your municipality’s website for updated status. No data in the test is sent to Dagbladet.– —

New reviews

Last week, Dagbladet reported that it will be considered during this week whether to make new facilitations both nationally and locally in Oslo. Then Minister of Health Høie said the following:

– As the Prime Minister has said: June 17 is three weeks since step two was implemented, and around that time we will consider moving to step three.

Health director Bjørn Guldvog was optimistic.

– We are doing well. Now the development after the implementation of stage two has also been favorable, so we are now working on preparing advice to the government related to stage three, he told Dagbladet.

In step three, it is opened, among other things, for domestic use of the corona passport in connection with major events and cruises. In addition, the government will consider opening up more to grassroots sports and cultural and leisure activities. The government will also consider abolishing the time-limited drinking stop for restaurants, which means that it may possibly be open nationally after midnight.

Furthermore, new assessments will be made related to number restrictions at private and public events, and the government will consider winding up the global travel council, where all travel that is not strictly necessary to all countries is advised against.

The Oslo measures

City councilor Raymond Johansen told Dagbladet on Tuesday last week that he hopes that Oslo can take “a jiffy”. On Monday, the municipality announced that they will hold a press conference on the corona situation on Tuesday this week.

– I hope that we can come back next week and say that we take an even bigger rush. If we have control over the outbreaks that are, then that is really what we are going to do, but we have to wait and see that we have control, then we will take it from there, Johansen said.

– What do you mean by a larger jafs?

– Firstly, we can implement step three, but you should not rule out that it may also be relevant to take elements from step four if the development is positive. That is what we are discussing. But we do not feel completely safe yet, even though the increase in infection was among people in the age group 16 to 19, and we want to be safe when we continue the reopening of the capital.

In step four, which Johansen is considering taking elements from, the city council wants to open for refreshments until midnight, as well as allow more than ten people to gather in private gatherings at home.
