When met on the same occasion, the General Chairperson of POGI, Ari Kusuma Januarto, said that the latest data that POGI collected was that at least 536 pregnant women were exposed to Covid-19. As many as 5.19 percent of them are people without symptoms (OTG).
As a group of people who are vulnerable to Covid-19 transmission, this is the reason why POGI issues a recommendation to give vaccinations to pregnant women.
With the vaccination of pregnant women, this is an effort to protect pregnant women, the people around them, and the health workers who handle them.
“For pregnant women, this vaccine is one of the prevention efforts in addition to the health protocol. We have been pushing for a vaccine for pregnant women for almost a month. God willing (the official circular) is all in process,” he said.

Despite having issued recommendations for vaccination for pregnant women, until now there has been no official circular from the government issued regarding this matter. That is why POGI hopes that this circular on vaccination for pregnant women will be released next week.
Meanwhile, before vaccinating, pregnant women will receive monitoring from a doctor to check the condition of pregnant women who do not experience signs of severe preeclampsia.
As further monitoring, POGI together with the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) and the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) have now prepared a recording form to monitor all pregnant women who will receive vaccinations.
Prof. Budi said that POGI had completed the recording form, including the question control card during the pre-vaccine examination. That way, it is hoped that pregnant women can be more confident about getting a dose of the vaccine.
“After the vaccine is carried out, monitoring must be carried out, with notes on how the baby develops during pregnancy and also until delivery,” said Prof. Budi.

In his presentation, Prof. Budi explained that all types of Covid-19 vaccines have been proven safe. However, for Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, further research has been carried out on pregnant women.
Prof. Budi said, “For Pfizer and Moderna there are additional and advantages because they have data (reinforcement) on pregnant women.”
However, any type of vaccine that will be given to pregnant women is generally safe to use. It can be Sinovac or AstraZeneca. This goes back to the availability of vaccines in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, for the latest type of vaccine, Moderna, Prof. Budi said that it is more intended for health workers. He explained, “At most Sinovac (for pregnant women). If Moderna is specifically for the third dose of health workers, that is also if she has received two doses of Sinovac.”
So, that’s the information regarding the hope that a circular of vaccinations for pregnant women can be released soon. Hopefully the Covid-19 vaccination program for pregnant women can be implemented soon, Ma.
