Manchester –
Interim manager Manchester United Ralph Rangnick defend Paul Pogba. Following the ridicule that Pogba received from MU supporters in the win over Norwich City.
Pogba became a starter when Manchester United beat Norwich 3-2 at Old Trafford, Saturday (16/4/2022). The Red Devils started brilliantly after taking a two-goal lead thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Canaries then created two goals back from Kieran Dowell and Teemu Pukki. At 2-2, Rangnick issued Pogba to be replaced by Juan Mata in the 74th minute.
A number of fans Manchester United can be heard cheering the top French midfielder as he walks off the pitch. Pogba then replied to them with a gesture to put his hand near his ear.
After Pogba out, Ronaldo scored from a free kick that sealed the Red Devils victory. After the game, Rangnick said he didn’t hear Pogba while reminding supporters that the success or failure of MU is not the responsibility of one player.
“I didn’t hear myself, really,” said Ranknick from Sky Sports. “However, we discussed it with my staff in the office in the dressing room.”
“I think the fans here are amazing. Their support at the stadium was great again, it couldn’t be better. I can understand if the fans are frustrated and disappointed, so are we.”
“I don’t think it makes sense to target an individual or a player because it’s a shared responsibility. Even if you look to the past, it doesn’t make sense to me and this is why I will always defend and protect my players,” Rangnick commented on the ridicule of Pogba.
