Poets of Color Exhibition. Vilhelms Purvītis – Aspazija’s neighbor in Dubultos

The exhibition includes Purvīš’s original works created in Jūrmala from the collection of the Latvian National Art Museum and Art Center Zuzeum Zuzānus. For the first time, high-quality reproductions of photographs made in Jurmala, whose fate was unknown a few years ago, or which can only be seen in black and white photographs, are being presented. The exhibition’s scientific advisor, art historian Baiba Guste points out that Purvītis appears to be emotionally happy and excited under the influence of the atmosphere released by the resort, the sea and the warm air of the pines: “The uniqueness of the exhibition is revealed by getting a glimpse of the little-known handwriting of Vilhelm Purvīš, when he was in the 20s-30s of the 20th century.
