“I think there is a similar healing in music – at least I have slept in bed myself, shrunk in cramps, horror and nausea, and closed Rubinstein’s piano concert to feel like a human being. I also think about how in childhood, when there is a fever, mom or dad reads a book in front and it is easier for a while. It all definitely has something like that. It is one side.
Poetry heals
For fifty-five years, the beginning of September has been marked by Poetry Days in Latvia. Once held in honor of Rainis ‘100th anniversary, they have become a constant value that brings together poets, coolers and poetry lovers every autumn around Rainis’ birthday. This year, the slogan of Poetry Days is “Poetry Heals”. Can poetry heal? Latvian Radio asked poets of different generations to share their thoughts on this.

And, of course, those moments when a friend or author reads the text himself, and at that moment everything comes together. It can be an experience, and you can get comfort there. (..)
It is extremely beautiful that you can create this world of poetry and then return to it every time you read it.
For example, if there is a moment in life and I manage to capture these reflections in the text, I can return there every time. It’s very exciting! ” notes the poet.
“I am also thinking about the fact that two great Latvian writers left us this summer. I was minimally acquainted with them, but it seems to me that because I had read their texts and read them even after they left, I was able to experience meeting them. I am very grateful for that. In that sense, the world of its texts is a very interesting place. ”
