Babs Gons will receive the Golden Goose Feather this year. The writer, poet and spoken word-artist receives the prize for her commitment “to the world of spoken word to grow poetry and make it known to a wide audience,” says the Academy De Gouden Ganzenveer, which awards the prize.
Jet Bussemaker, former Minister of Education, Culture and Science and chairman of the academy, announced the winner in the program The Language State on NPO Radio 1. “Gons offers his own story in a thoughtful and honest manner, which is also valuable in a world of polarized opinions and big words,” says Bussemaker.
Stage poet Gons (52) published her first poetry collection in 2021, Just do it anyway. According to the foundation, her work is characterized by great social and human involvement.

That’s how she goes last poem about the major explosion in South Rotterdam last week in which three people died.
Language in the spotlight
The Golden Goose Feather is awarded annually. With the award, the academy wants to draw attention to the written and printed word in the Dutch language area. Gons will receive the prize in Amsterdam on May 27.
