Another factor is how the mood in Europe, Ukraine and Russia could change, Podolak said.
According to him, peace talks could take place only if Russia feels that the situation on the ground is changing and can no longer dictate the conditions.
Podolak warned that territorial concessions to Russia would not end the war. Some cities, such as Mariupol and Severedonecka, where the fiercest battles took place and are taking place, are virtually non-existent, Podolak said.
He estimated that Russia has lost 80,000 people so far. This includes fallen and wounded Russian army soldiers, Donbass fighters and Wagner mercenaries.
According to Podolak, the current losses of Russia and Ukraine are “comparable”. At the beginning of the war, Russia lost up to 1,000 soldiers a day, but now they are around a hundred a day.
