One in four diabetes patients has to deal with poor circulation and a reduced feeling in the feet. The likelihood of poor healing foot wounds with a risk of amputation is therefore increasing. To support people with diabetes in an interactive way, RondOm Podotherapists is organizing a LIVE online foot quiz (with only winners) on 31 March to share knowledge and proper foot care.
Tax on health care system
Two to three percent of the total diabetes mellitus population has a foot injury. These wounds often have a poor healing tendency with a healing time of usually two to five months. In addition, they require intensive treatment, are often associated with lengthy hospital admissions and result in loss of mobility and quality of life. The burden is great for both people with diabetes mellitus and the healthcare system. The Care Module Prevention Diabetic Foot Ulcers 2019 recommends advising these people on how to deal with this. To give shape to this in a fun innovative way, RondOm Podotherapists will contribute to this social problem.
The online quiz
During an interactive quiz evening, many interesting quiz questions are discussed, which can be answered from the living room, ” says Laura Zantboer (diabetes podotherapist at RondOm Podotherapeuten). In addition, other lower extremity experts will also discuss responses with viewers. Laura: ” In this way we hope to prevent many problems together by sharing knowledge and experiences. ”
