Amazing Race Suomi -competitors Adelina Arajuuri and Jeremie Rest in the episode of the Amazing podcast that appeared on Saturday night, they talk about things that are not shown to the viewers on television.
This kind of thing is, for example, filming permits, Adeliina reveals. The photo permits came as a surprise to him.
– You can’t just run up to someone and assume that you can photograph them. Every time we competitors asked someone for help, we had to ask permission to shoot, says Adeliina.
Adeliina explains that at the beginning of each stage, the teams were given a small photo permit form. Every person helping, including taxi drivers, had to be asked if they could be seen in the pictures. After verbal consent, they read through the consent form and wrote their contact information and signature on it.
After this, the contestants had to collect the shooting permits and hand each of them to the production at the end of the day.

Adeliina admits that asking for filming permits was challenging during the busy competition holidays. Jeremie agrees. Asking for photography permits took time, which was on the card in the race.
– Sometimes it was easy to get help, some were really helpful and happily jested. Some were startled, for good reason, says Jeremie and adds that he understands the startle of outsiders.
Adeliina and Jeremie also talk about the interviews of the contestants seen in the program, which were always filmed after each task.
Jeremie explains that after each task the clock was started for six minutes. During that time, the teams’ own filming crews asked the contestants pre-written questions. After a six-minute interview, the teams were able to continue their journey.
– Six minutes felt really long in the race, Jeremie admits.
Adeliina says that despite the rush, it was good that the six-minute interview breaks forced them to stop and calm down for a while.

In addition, the contestants had fifteen-minute breaks during filming days.
– The breaks for the shift were divided so that if there are five tasks on the stage, somewhere in between there will be a tactical 15 (minute break). That too is clocked by every single one.
Jeremie says that the purpose of the breaks is for the competitors to calm down and even out their heart rate during the break from the intense race. However, this was easier said than done.
– At the same time as you get your heart rate up, you already want to go and compete. Couldn’t really calm down. You wanted to continue the race and go to the next point and take care of it, says Jeremie.
Jeremie and Adeliina emphasize that the competition days were really long.
– That fifteen minutes should have been used to sit down and eat and drink and relax. He couldn’t handle it. At least we don’t eat anything on this day. Maybe a quick energy drink in a scarf, says Adeliina.
