Home team Dukla took the lead in the Horehron derby in the 29th minute after a precise strike by Róbert Polievka, but the visitors turned the score around before the break thanks to two goals by Petr Kováčik. He scored the first from the right side of the box with a hard shot under the crossbar and the second with a header from Roland Galčík’s cross. The triumph of the “ironmen” was sealed in stoppage time after quick counterattacks by alternating Christophe Kabongo and Kováčik, who thus completed a hat trick.
The first round of the Nike League continues over the weekend with five more matches.

We played too wide and didn’t create any open chances. We were behind in everything in this game and he showed us what we need to work on.”
Roman Skuhravý, coach of Podbrezová: “It was our clearly deserved victory. And that despite the fact that after an unfortunate mistake in the first half we got into a deficit with a conceded goal. However, we had more chances and it could have ended with a higher result in our favor. I am proud of the players , the way they handled it and the way they scored the goals. Those were really beautiful. My players had passion, hunger for football, but we don’t overestimate this win, we have to take it with humility, it’s only the first round. I wish that each of us they showed such high-quality work during the match and also took points.”
