Mauricio Pochettino says he will not promise Cole Palmer playing time at Chelsea, not even with Lionel Messi.
Palmer signed for £ 43 million Pochettino does not guarantee playing time The same policy applied to Messi at PSG
WHAT HAPPENED? Pochettino was discussing Palmer’s £42.5m arrival at a press conference ahead of Chelsea’s meeting with Nottingham Forest on Saturday (2/9). When asked about the 21-year-old’s desire to play in the first team, Pochettino said he was not making any guarantees.
WHAT HE SAID: Pochettino explained: “If someone guarantees his players to play, okay, but that’s not the case here.”
“Players have to come and perform and let us manage and then, if he deserves to play, he will play, I’m sure the same thing will happen at City. But for us, even when you pay a lot of money for a player at Chelsea it doesn’t mean you are guaranteed to play. That’s the wrong way of thinking.”

“People need to learn about that. When we sign players, we do it so they become part of the squad, involved in the squad, become part of the club. Become part of the dynamic. We never sign players that we promise to always play. It never happened, even when we signed Messi at Paris St-Germain.”
FORGETTING HIS FATE: How Palmer will fit into Chelsea’s expensive squad will be interesting to see. The Blues are certainly not short of options in the forward midfield.
