Poblano migrant dies in New York from COVID-19

A man originally from Coatzingo, Puebla, who lived in New York, United States, died as a result of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

In a press conference, the Secretary of the Government of Puebla, David Méndez Márquez, explained that the Poblano was 65 years old and works in a restaurant.

The official stated that the Mexican He was hospitalized in serious condition for about a week and a half.

Due to the restrictive measures in the US, his body will have to be cremated in New York and his remains will be transferred to Puebla until the contingency ends.

According to Méndez Márquez, the poblano arrived in New York from Izúcar de Matamoros, a municipality where his family still lives and with which they already had contact.

The secretary said that at the moment, the state government has repatriated 55 of the 80 poblanos who were in countries at risk of contagion.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of State Health, Jorge Humberto Uribe, said that at the moment in Puebla they add 53 confirmed cases.

Of these: 34 are imported; 16 associated with imports; 1 asymptomatic 3 community transmission.

Only 12 of the 53 remain hospitalized, of which 5 are reported serious.

Regarding gender, 32 of the positive cases are men and 21 women. The age range of the patients is 21 to 77 years.

Until last night, Mexico records 8 deaths by COVID-19, as well as 585 positive cases, four of them asymptomatic, and 2,156 suspects.
