PNC agents locate a bus with 52 migrants and capture three “coyotes” – Publinews – 2024-03-12 09:31:05

During the early hours of this day, the National Civil Police (PNC) captured three alleged human traffickers, also known as “coyotes”, who were illegally transporting 52 migrants on a bus. During the required investigations, the agents intercepted the vehicle on route CA-1, Los Esclavos village, Cuilapa, Santa Rosa.

After the operation in the area, they immediately captured Luis “N”, 23 years old, Yermis “N”, 18 years old, and José “N”, 25 years old, respectively.

According to the information shared, these people were assisted by the PNC, and subsequently sent to the shelter of the Guatemalan Migration Institute in zone 5 to resolve their irregular immigration status.

THE NATIONALITIES

The Guatemalan Migration Institute reported that these 52 people entered the Migration Care Center for Foreigners (CAMIEX) and were identified with the following nationalities:

  • 18 originally from Cuba
  • 22 are from Ecuador
  • 7 come from the Dominican Republic
  • 5 from Nepal
  • Of them, 4 are accompanied minors, who will be given differentiated attention, they noted.

Currently, the Guatemalan Migration Institute emphasizes that it is in the process of implementing the Migration Policy, an instrument that integrates actions to provide better care to the foreign migrant population, considering the migratory flows that transit through the country.
