PMK Spreads, Police Install Signs in Cages, Semarang Regency Government Proposes KLB Status

UNGARAN, KOMPAS.com – Kaliwungu Polres Semarang take anticipatory steps to suppress the transmission of foot and mouth disease (FMD) in livestock.

One of them is by installing signs on livestock pens which have the potential to be locations for the spread of FMD.

The Kaliwungu Police Chief, Iptu Wardoyo, said the signs were in the form of warning banners. The banner reads “Forbidden to enter the Cage, Avoid the Spread of the FMD Virus”.

“We have put up the signs as a warning, for anticipatory steps,” he explained, Monday (6/6/2022).

Wardoyo said the spread of PMK continues to increase. In fact, currently there are 53 livestock that have been declared as suspects for PMK.

“The animals that were declared suspect consisted of 45 cows and 8 sheep,” he explained.

It is said, in addition to the warning signs, officers also continue to carry out socialization.

“According to the leadership’s instructions, so that PMK does not spread further, there is socialization for breeders. In addition to maintaining the cleanliness of the cage by spraying disinfectant, farmers must also maintain it properly,” said Wardoyo.

A farmer, Andang, said he was grateful for the installation of signs in his cage.

“We sometimes forget about the condition that currently there is still PMK, this way we can continue to remember to maintain the cleanliness and health of livestock,” he said.
