Hiroshima |Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. The meeting took place during the G7 summit in Hiroshima. This is the first meeting between the two leaders since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February last year.
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy spoke to PM Modi about G20. He thanked India for its assistance and UN support.
Modi met British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Indonesian President Joko Widodo and UN chief Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the G7 summit. The two leaders shared a hug during their meeting with Sunak. Earlier, Modi also held talks with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and Vietnamese President Pham Minh Chin. He also met German Chancellor Olaf Scholsum.
The Prime Minister arrived in Hiroshima, Japan on Friday to attend the annual summit of the G7 group in the first leg of his three-nation tour. He will also visit Papua New Guinea and Australia.
The Ukrainian president is also attending the G7 summit at the invitation of Japan, the current chairman of the powerful grouping.
The G7 group consists of the US, France, the UK, Italy, Germany, Canada and Japan. India attended the G7 summit, which represents the world’s richest democracies, at the invitation of Japan, which presides over the summit.
