PM asks Hanoi to implement five key tasks for future development

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh worked with the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee on Saturday morning (August 17) in Hanoi on the situation of the capital’s socio-economic development, security and defense, foreign affairs, especially production, public investment, infrastructure construction, import-export in the first seven months of 2024; on investment in social housing construction and implementation of national target programs; and on tasks and solutions in the coming time.

According to the Hanoi Party Committee, the capital’s economy continued to grow, major balances were ensured, most socio-economic development indicators increased compared to the same period in 2023. In fact, the regional GDP in the first six months of 2024 saw a 6% increase, which is 1.16 times higher than the national increase.

The industrial production index increased by 6.2%. FDI attraction reached more than $1.37 billion. Export turnover amounted to $10.4 billion, up 10.8%…

Hanoi is the first locality in the country to promulgate and implement Resolution 09 on developing the cultural industry for the period 2021-2025. The city is investing nearly 50 trillion dong in three areas: culture, education, and the preservation and restoration of historical relics.

Hanoi asks the government and the Prime Minister to pay attention to the implementation of the Capital Law 2024; to take preferential policies and support for high-tech projects; to approve the Hanoi Capital Planning Plan soon; to allow Hanoi to pilot the smart urban development model in some urban areas; to develop urban railway lines…

Speaking at the working session, the Prime Minister acknowledged and appreciated the Hanoi Party Committee, authority, army and people for their efforts in achieving outstanding results, including economic recovery and development. Digital transformation, digital economic development and digital society have been accelerated. Hanoi has mobilized many resources for its development.

Pham Minh Chinh asked Hanoi to focus on five key tasks: ensuring macroeconomic stability, promoting economic growth, controlling inflation, ensuring major balances of the economy; eliminating difficulties in production and business, mobilizing all resources to develop capital; promoting the reform of administrative procedures; ensuring social security and the environment and developing culture.

He stressed the specific tasks: continue to promote the disbursement of public investment capital; continue to renew traditional growth engines such as investment, export, consumption; promote new growth engines, including the green economy, digital economy, circular economy, knowledge economy and sharing economy. Hanoi should lead in innovation, creativity, start-ups and effective use of the achievements of the 4th industrial revolution, building smart cities; improve its competitiveness, especially the population satisfaction index. The capital should also solve problems of transport infrastructure, health, education, society, environment and social security; pay attention to the development of education.

In addition, Hanoi should continue to promote production and business; focus on building a clean and strong Party and political system and formulating and perfecting policies and laws to implement the Law on Capital (amended); promote prevention and fight against corruption; and strengthen external economic relations and international economic integration.

The Prime Minister asked the Government Office to synthesize and coordinate with relevant ministries, branches and agencies to review and resolve Hanoi’s proposals. – VNA
