Plumbing services increase in price from January 1, 2024.reported the Commission for Energy and Water Regulation, which approved the business plans of the water supply operators with service prices for the next year.
15 percent is the country’s average increase in the price of plumbing services.
With the decision of the regulator, the prices of the services of 38 water and sanitation operators are changed – 27 regional state companies, 4 municipal and 7 private operators.
To 40% more will be paid in placesit became clear during the discussion in the Commission for Energy and Water Regulation almost a month ago.
Theft of water will be fined from BGN 2,000 to BGN 10,000.
In most regions, prices will vary between BGN 3 and BGN 6 per cubic meter of water. The biggest increase is predicted in Sliven – 41% and in Vidin – almost 30%, and the least – in Kyustendil – 1.5 percent.
About a 20 percent price jump is expected in Gabrovo, Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Vratsa, Lovech and Montana.
Estimates for the Sofia region show an increase of 22.5% – from 2.94 to 3.60 per cubic meter, but since the prepared business plan has not yet been approved, for consumers, water will become more expensive later in the year. “Sofiiska voda” JSC, which serves Sofia, has not foreseen a change in the current price of plumbing services.
The company is not included in the current decision to change prices for 2024, as it submitted its business plan to KEVR in November of this year. The business plan is to be considered by KEVR at an open meeting and public discussion.
Between 10% and 15% higher price is foreseen for the regions of Dobrich, Kardzhali, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Razgrad, Ruse, Smolyan, Targovishte and Yambol. A little under A 10% increase is expected in Varna, Pernik, Pleven, Silistra, Stara Zagora and Shumen.
One of the factors for price changes is the inflation index applied according to a normatively determined methodology for the period from the approval of the business plans to the adoption of the current decision, the regulator specified. The reason for the price corrections is also the fact that KEVR reduced the prices approved according to the business plans for the year 2023 of a number of water supply companies due to the non-fulfillment of their investments and the levels of the uniform performance indicators for the period 2020-2021.
As a pricing element, the annual 15 percent increase in wages in the sector is also included, which the Commission is obliged to account for according to the signed national agreement between the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, “Bulgarian Waterworks Holding” and the trade union “Water Supplier” – KNSB, specified by the regulator.
