Plug & Charge on Hyundai, for now only in Ionity columns
Everything is much simpler: just plug the charging cable into the car and the operation is done automatically authorizedas well as the next account debit of the customer. Just like with the Tesla nei Supercharger. At the moment, however, the only Plug & Charge-enabled stations on Hyundais are le Ionity (also present in Italy) and the Aral Pulse (in Germany). But this is the protocol of the future, for simplicity and security, and it’s safe to bet that other major networks will soon follow the same path. The Plug & Charge works according to the standard ISO 15118 with high security and encryption, guaranteed by the use of the Hubject operator. This is to protect the certificate stored on the vehicle and communication with the charging infrastructure from possible violations. Furthermore also billing is simplifiedto. In case of multiple sessions even with different operators, customers always receive a single monthly bill.
Easier operation than a full tank of petrol
As we said, the Ioniq 6 is the first Hyundai model with Plug & Charge functionality, made available by one of the most recent OTA updates, remotely. On the New Kona Electric, however, it will be available from the imminent launch. Who has experienced on their own skin charging mishaps, with apps that don’t communicate with the column or cards swiped unnecessarily, you know how much these innovations count. It’s about making the refill even simpler than a full tank of petrolwithout even having to insert banknotes or payment cards.
