He received a life sentence for the brutal murder
God is my witness that I did not want it to happen like this, she declared before the court
The Plovdiv resident Krasimira Laleva, who on October 21, 2021 killed her friend Bojan Ivanov, first hit him 4 times on the head with a dumbbell, then clamped his mouth so that he could not breathe, choked him until he broke his hyoid bone, put on his nail bag, then dragged his body into the bathroom, poured oil over it and tried to set it on fire. The entire entrance was filled with smoke and when her neighbors called, she explained that she had accidentally set a towel on fire. She threw his phone down a shaft after deleting the chats between them and put his clothes in different garbage containers. After that, she scrubbed and scrubbed the apartment with various preparations for hours. Those details of the crime came out of the pleadings in the case against her. She was found guilty of aggravated murder and sentenced to life in prison.
After what was done, Laleva contacted Father Viktor Hristev from the Church of Saint Marina and told him what she had done. The priest decided that there was no way to keep the secret of the confession, and told her that they should call the police. According to Laleva’s lawyer, Georgi Vassilev, she did not resist and Father Victor called 112. After her arrest, the 37-year-old woman made a full confession.
She refused to give her explanation before the court, but in response to a question from the prosecutor Rosen Kamenov, she stated that Bojan Ivanov harassed her – physically and verbally. “There is no data in the case about such encroachments”, objected Kamenov.
Krasimira and Bojan, who is 7 years younger, met in 2019. They lived together twice, then she entered the monastery in Kuklen. She looked for him again when she left the monastery. Laleva is an orphan, she has not worked in recent years, and according to the lawyer of the relatives of the murdered Georgi Bozhkov, she was looking for someone to support her. She had high self-esteem and although she mainly initiated the meetings with Bojan, she hinted to him that she was of Roma origin and emphasized that she was disgusted by him. “On the particular day, she took a dumbbell from the terrace and Bojan asked her: ‘What are you going to do with those small breasts?’ Can this line unleash such aggression,” asked the prosecutor and asked for a life sentence. The defense of the victim’s relatives described Laleva as a useless and very bad person. “As the people say, only the ax straightens a crooked tree. In this case, a life sentence cannot compensate for the loss of loved ones, but at least Laleva will not be among people,” said lawyer Georgi Bozhkov.
The defendant’s defense attorney described the fateful day in a different way. “She had strong feelings for Bojan, and he told her that he had another girlfriend – younger and prettier. She did the blows not out of cruelty, but out of fear, because he was physically much stronger than her”, pleads lawyer Georgi Vassilev.
“I’m still going through it. I’m deeply and sincerely sorry. God is my witness that I didn’t want it to happen like this, I’m asking for a minimal punishment,” Laleva said in her last word. But he did not address Bojan’s relatives who were in the hall. After the case, her relative emphasized to “24 Chasa” that Krasimira was orphaned early, was abandoned by her sisters and had a difficult life.
The verdict is not final and is subject to appeal before the Court of Appeal in Plovdiv.
