Plovdiv took fourth place in the voting for the best European destination in the 13th edition of the prestigious ranking of the site European Best Destinations. On the first position is the Slovenian capital Ljubljana, on the second – the Spanish resort of Marbella, on the third – Amiens in France.
Nearly 500,000 votes were received from 182 countries.
Plovdiv is the only Bulgarian city that participated in the competition and was placed in competition with 19 other cities, including London, Rome, Vienna, Istanbul, Athens, Prague, Ljubljana, Graz and others.
In 2016, Plovdiv took third place in this ranking after the Croatian Zadar and the Greek capital Athens.
