“The procedure for calling a general meeting was not followed. Private security did not allow 50 students to enter the classroom. We alerted the police and they came in uniform to avoid a more serious incident.” That’s what she said on camera about Plovdiv24.bg UHT student council president Plamen Petrov. Private security guards asked Petrov for the organization room key, and when he refused, they told him they would not let him out and he was forced to hand it over to the functional principal. Documents with personal data of Student Council members and financial data are kept in the room, which is disturbing, says the young man.
Petrov announced that he was expelled from UHT because he alerted institutions and the media about irregularities at the university. The argument for the exclusion was to damage the prestige of UHT, which appealed to the administrative court. “For the third year, the renovation of our dormitories has not been completed, but it has been 100% paid. The sports facility is also in a terrible state,” the young man said and asked where are the institutions they should check these irregularities.
“We are shocked by what is happening. Our words are not being listened to, we are clearly uncomfortable because we are looking not only for our rights, but also for our colleagues,” added Plamen Petrov. His deputy Ivan Kostov added that actions are being taken by which the management of UHT is trying to pit students against students.
