An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 on the Richter scale shook Plovdiv on Wednesday
Plovdiv residents claim that they received a warning on their phones about the earthquake that rocked the city under the hills on Wednesday. We remind you that an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 on the Richter scale shook the region of Plovdiv around 3:30 p.m.
“I received a notification during the quake. Some say they had a message 20 seconds before. The notice read “Strong earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3. Stand in a safe place or evacuate,” said Rumyana Samokovareva, mayor of the village of Krumovo, on the air of “Hello, Bulgaria”.
“The earthquake was felt very strongly, but for a short time. The night passed peacefully. There is no panic among the population. The destructions are quite few. There are three destroyed chimneys in the village. An inspection will be done today and help will be provided where needed. The building of the community center and the town hall are also damaged”, added Samokovareva.

“I was at work during the earthquake. There was no panic. The most important thing is that people keep their composure. There is a rule of thumb that if you can evacuate within 10 seconds of the start of the swing, it’s a good idea to do so. If you’re on a high floor, it’s better to take cover. It’s pointless to take the stairs,” explained Krasimir Karakashev, a volunteer who participated in the rescue operations after the deadly earthquake in Turkey.
In addition to the damage in Krumovo, there are 4 reports of damaged schools – 2 in the territory of Asenovgrad and 2 in Sadovo.
