“It’s just a redistribution, but the most important thing is that since the competition, the three of us who were on the Board of Directors have remained the same. This means that we have received a good evaluation for the work we have been doing.
At the moment, the distribution is already clear – I occupy the position of executive director, the other colleague – Todor Shopov is the chairman of the Board of Directors, and the previous director remains a member of the Board.
The management team is the same, and it’s a sign of the principal’s good judgment that we’ve done a good job so far. Nothing fundamentally new will happen. We continue to implement the same policy that we as a management team have been doing until now,” said Doychin Angelov.
The team continues to work to increase destinations to Great Britain, Spain, Italy and Germany.
Regarding Turkey – there are already negotiations to restore the line to Istanbul, which stopped last year. There are ongoing talks about its restoration, as well as new ones. It will most likely be Izmir.
“These are the main directions that are being worked on at the moment. I will not get tired of saying that the Plovdiv Airport Development Fund is a guarantee and guarantor for the occurrence of these opportunities,” Angelov added.
He pointed out that on Tuesday the municipality of Sadovo voted its contribution to the fund at the Municipal Council. This is expected to happen with the remaining seven municipalities that are members of the Fund. Another 4-5 new municipalities have declared their inclusion in the Fund – Brezovo, Krichim, Perushtitsa, Saedinenie and Chirpan.
Charters at the moment from Belfast are doing very well, with a very good load of flights. Meanwhile, the new flight, which is a seasonal regular service to Manchester, is also going well. Many tourists travel, Doychin Angelov also boasted.
“From the very beginning, we saw that there are many tourists for Pamporovo and for the winter resorts, and they are increasing. For charters from Turkey, they are also related to winter tourism and are also doing very well.”
Doychin Angelov also said that the shuttle connection with which Plovdiv Airport is connected to the regional city from June 2022 is the one that currently transports passengers to the city and to the airport. Work is also being done to provide another transport through time, but this is not yet a fact. For some regular public line is a question that must be solved by two or three municipalities, such as Plovdiv and “Rhodopi”.
The airport does not have a specific contract with a certain taxi company, but has a cooperation agreement with several companies without limitation.
“At the very beginning, we announced that we are ready for Schengen. We did some small things that are a matter of internal organization. We have long been fully ready for the operation of the airport for entering Schengen. The airport was already designed in such a way that there an opportunity to separate the flows,” explained the new executive director of Plovdiv Airport, Doychin Angelov.
