Plopsa sells the highest indoor slide in the world: starting bid … (Antwerp)

Antwerp –

The highest indoor slide in the world, which was part of the Comics Station amusement park in the Antwerp-Central station building, is being sold publicly. As of today she is on an online auction platform. The 22.5 meter high slide is used for 5,000 euros. Once the Comics Station has been renovated, it will reopen at the end of 2021 under the name Plopsa Station Antwerp.

Comics Station opened its doors in 2017. The Plopsa Group then took over the park at the end of December 2019. “We are currently working on a completely new look,” says Plopsa CEO Steve Van den Kerkhof.

“There will be some new attractions and we will add Studio 100 figures.” The slide no longer fits in with the new concept and must also make way for new attractions. Plopsa therefore decided to auction them.

To this end, Plopsa works together with the online auction house Vavato from Sint-Niklaas, which has experience with the international sale of, among other things, vintage cars, industrial installations, overstock and bankruptcies. It is not the first time that Plopsa and Vavato have joined forces. For example, the old parade cars of Plopsaland De Panne were auctioned via Vavato last year. The online auction of the highest indoor slide in the world starts today and ends on Friday, October 30. The starting bid is 5,000 euros. There is also a viewing moment for all interested parties on Thursday 29 October between 11 am and 1 pm.

The new indoor park was to open at the end of 2021. “We are not rushing to work. A lot of adjustments have to be made ”, says Van den Kerkhof. “The new name will be Plopsa Station Antwerp.” The planned changes and investments amount to EUR 5 million.
