“Plopsa Amusement Park Group Fires CEO and Top Executives Over Toxic Management Claims”

Amusement park group Plopsa fires the financial director and four other executives. With this, after CEO Steve Van den Kerkhof, the entire top of the company has now also been pushed aside.

The amusement park group Plopsa is rapidly replacing management. This was discredited by strong complaints about the toxic management style of CEO Steve Van den Kerkhof. Plopsa owner Studio 100 had lawyer Christine Mussche draw up a report. The facts about cross-border leadership were too strong, so Studio 100 had to fire Van den Kerkhof. Studio 100 chairman Koen Clement temporarily took over as CEO.

The report showed that not only Van den Kerkhof was guilty of toxic leadership. The commercial director also had to go. The time reported that now five more people at the top must now leave. That news was confirmed to us by the company.

It concerns the financial director (cfo) who was also mentioned earlier in the case, two other directors and two managers. Studio 100 does say that the layoffs are ‘unrelated to previous reports of possible toxic management’. With the dismissal of the CFO, the top three of the company have now been completely cleared. Some former executives who feel victimized by Van den Kerkhof’s management practices have now also initiated legal actions against him.

Plopsa also announced a first replacement. Xavier Verellen will be the new commercial director. He has a past as a director at DPG Media and in that position already had close contact with Plopsa. Verellen also writes columns about management and cycling for the site, among others Business.am.
