Monday, July 4, the manager Stéphane Kerdodé will open the doors of the La Mine d’Or Distillery to customers, which he inaugurated on Friday, July 1, in the presence of many guests: MP Paul Molac, Patrick Le Diffon mayor of Ploërmel and president of the Community of communes, the departmental councilors Hania Renaudie and Nicolas Jagoudet, and many other elected officials…
The new distillery is located in the spaces of the Domaine de Ronsouze in Ploërmel… Since 2005, Stéphane Kerdodé has run with Eric Ollive, the Brasserie Lancelot at Roc-Saint-André, town of Val d’Oust, which they sold last November , the Agrial group, the Agricultural Cooperative Society of Caen in Normandy, etc.
Today, Stéphane Kerdodé is the sole manager but plans to soon make the distillery a family business. It employs 10 multidisciplinary employees, has appointed Charles Maillet as cellar manager and Magali Piquet as administrative manager…
400,000 bottles per year
Started on July 8, 2021, the work lasted a year. The old farmhouse, which nevertheless retains its character, has been transformed by Breton companies. Near the 3 old farmhouses, 5 buildings have come out of the ground. The central building houses the management and the meeting rooms…
The place now has 2 cellars which can store 2400 barrels of 350 liters each of whiskey production made in Brocéliande
. The beverage has aged for 3 years and a first vintage is ready for sale this month!
The objective of the new distillery is to produce 400,000 bottles a year. The first cuvée was sold to café owners and wine merchants in the sector.
Guided tours this summer
-The inauguration, in the courtyard, in the center of the new distillery, was intended to be festive with the accompaniment of a jazz orchestra: Hip Cats Sextet, during the cocktail hour. A guided tour of the premises was offered to the guests: the brewing station (water, Maltese barley and yeast); the distillery with its daily production of 5000 liters thanks to a double distillation of the wash: first the brouillis between 9 and 10.5 degrees, redistilled to give the eau de vie at 72 degrees. Visitors were able to see the storage of 350-litre barrels, on one side those in new French oak for brandy and on the other side the old barrels of Cognac: the bar and the shop which will open with a room of projection. The place will be educational and will offer tastings and all its products for sale. The manufacturing secrets will be revealed there during this summer, with 3 daily guided tours.to consume with moderation
