PLN Startup Day 2023: Empowering Indonesia's Startups with Innovation and Collaboration

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – PT PLN (Persero) shows its commitment to continue to support the development of startups in Indonesia. One of them is by holding a number of initiatives such as holding PLN Start Up Day.

President Director of PT PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo said, PLN Startup Day is a unique program and different from other places. Through this event, startups are invited to collaborate through the ideas they create.

“Why? Because we believe that every idea put forward by startup innovators, by young Indonesians, is definitely a great idea. So we will not only compare every idea put forward by startups and then there will be no follow-up. But PLN is taking steps further,” said Darmawan at the PLN Start Up Day event, Connext in Jakarta, Tuesday (12/12/2023).

In detail, Darmawan explained that what PLN did was to discuss business innovation ideas from the start, discuss together how business cooperation with PLN would work, implement it as part of PLN’s business, and expand more widely in the future.

For your information, to date there have been dozens of startups resulting from PLN incubation, which have ultimately become PLN’s strategic partners. For example :

-Startup with warehouse management innovation with digital technology for food security.

-Startup with waste to energy innovation for utilizing waste into energy.

-Startup with innovative home and office repair services. This is integrated in PLN Mobile.

-Startup with MSME innovation, utilizing PLN technology to increase TKDN of local Indonesian products.

“Therefore, this year’s PLN Startup Day is an agenda to scale things up. To expand the Startup ecosystem that has been built now, to become even stronger. As well as directly implementing Startup innovation as part of the business process at PLN. Even in the future “We will build wider collaboration with the national and international banking ecosystem,” said Darmawan.

According to him, if the Startup innovation is implemented as a solution to community needs, PLN will also encourage the creation of collaboration with all government stakeholders, both central and regional.

“In essence, PLN is fully committed to encouraging the startup ecosystem throughout Indonesia to continue to emerge in a very conducive climate in the future,” concluded Darmawan.

For your information, PLN Connext Startup Day is an event that facilitates the process of development, learning and collaboration as well as strengthening business networks between PLN, PLN subsidiaries, leading mentors, industry experts, innovators, professionals and founders of potential start-up companies from industry.
