Jakarta –
PLN PT (Persero) signed a power purchase agreement (PJBL) from a wind or wind power plant (PLTB) with a capacity of 70 MW in Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan (Kalsel). The PLTB also has a battery energy storage system of 10 MW/10 MWH.
The PJBL was signed by PLN with Total Eren SA, PT Adaro Power and PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali Investasi. PLTB Tanah Laut is expected to start supplying electricity in 2025 to be able to support the Government’s program in achieving the target of the New Renewable Energy (EBT) mix in Indonesia.
“In the future, it is hoped that the Tanah Laut PLTB Power Purchase Agreement can become a reference for PLTB projects, in particular, and EBT in general, which are not only competitive in terms of prices but also acceptable to Independent Power Producers (IPP), PLN and the banking world. ,” said Main Director of PLN Darmawan Prasodjo in his statement, Thursday (4/5/2023).
The construction phase of PLTB Tanah Laut is targeted to start in early 2024, and is expected to reach full operation or Commercial Operation Date (COD) in 2025.
The Tanah Laut PLTB is predicted to be able to strengthen the electricity supply in the Kalimantan interconnection system and increase the NRE mix in Indonesia. PLTB Tanah Laut with a capacity of 70 MW will use wind turbine technology with a capacity of over 6 MW/unit and is equipped with a battery energy storage system or Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) of 10 MW / 10MWh which will mitigate PLTB interruptions.
The development of the Tanah Laut PLTB project has gone through a competitive tender process, in which PLN appointed the Total Eren and Adaro Power Consortium as the winner of the tender and signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) on November 15, 2022 at the same time as the G20 Summit in Bali.
The realization of PLTB Tanah Laut is expected to be able to support the target of achieving a mix of new renewable energy sources, as well as play a role in reducing CO2 emissions by 220,000 tons per year and contributing to achieving the target of reducing CO2 emissions nationally by 34.8%.
