PLN provides generators with a capacity of 230 kW for six villages in Tambrauw

Jayapura (ANTARA) – PT PLN (Persero) provides power plants with a capacity of 230 kW for six villages in Tambrauw Regency, West Papua.

Manager of PLN’s Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3) Manokwari Roberth Rumsaur in a press release in Jayapura, Wednesday, said that the power supply for the six villages comes from a power plant in the Kebar District.

“The six villages are Wanabek, Inambuari, Pubuan, Meicoforga, Kasih Inom and Ireji where now people in the six villages can enjoy PLN electricity for 12 hours from 6 pm to 6 am,” he said.

According to Roberth, with a total of 141 customers, PLN is constructing a medium voltage network (JTM) of 41,898 kilo meter circuits (kms) and a low voltage network (JTR) of 33,877 kms.

“Not only that, to electrify the six villages, PLN has also built 15 substations each with a capacity of 950 kilo Volt Ampere (kVA),” he said.

He explained that the average installed power in each house is 900 VA which is adjusted to customer needs, later on, people can add power if they need more power.

“The construction of the electricity network in the six villages that are included in the 3T area is not easy, various challenges are faced, one of which is caused by road access that is difficult to pass,” he said again.

He added that during the construction, several obstacles occurred, geographical conditions in the form of hills and unpredictable weather made material delivery quite sluggish, but his party continued to strive so that the six villages could immediately enjoy electricity.

Meanwhile, Tambrauw Regent Gabriel Asem expressed his great appreciation for PLN’s efforts in building electricity networks in his area.

“Before there was electricity, the people of Tambrauw Regency only used oil lanterns as lighting at night,” he said.

He added that on behalf of the government and the people of Tambrauw Regency, his party is grateful for the completion of the construction of electricity for six villages, it is hoped that PLN will be more loyal in lighting the country.
