Pleystein’s Citizens’ Festival: Music and culinary delights inspire

Pleystein. The community festival began with gunfire and marching music, and lasted until late at night, with musical performances by the “Rüscherl Muse” and the “Pirker Blechmusi”. During the day, various food stalls, cultural performances and child-friendly activities such as a bouncy castle and face painting provided entertainment. The highlight in the evening was the performance by the “Pirker Blechmusi”, which, despite the occasional drizzle, delighted the visitors and got them dancing.

With cannon fire and traditional marching music from the Pleystein town band, the town festival opened its doors on Sunday morning on the market square in Pleystein. The celebrations lasted until late into the night and offered a varied program for young and old.

Community gathering

The day began traditionally with a celebratory service, after which the city leaders, together with guests of honor and to the sounds of the “Pleystein March”, went to the center of the festival in front of the town hall. Among the guests were the former mayor of the twin town of Gamlitz, Karl Grasmuck, with his wife Maria and MdL Stephan Oetzinger.

Culinary and musical highlights

The festival began at lunchtime with food from the Catholic Women’s Association’s huge pan, where the traditional Dotsch was served. Visitors had the choice between roast pork and venison goulash, followed by a large selection of sweet treats in the afternoon. For the first time at the Citizens’ Festival, grilled mackerel was served in the late afternoon, a novelty that was well received by festival-goers.

The “Rüscherl Muse” provided the musical entertainment in the afternoon with Bavarian and Bohemian music, which many visitors particularly appreciated. The “Bambinis” from the Pleysteiner Prinzengarde brought additional liveliness to the program with their dances. For the children there was a bouncy castle, face painting and a giant sandpit, which caused a great deal of excitement.

End of the festival with the “Pirker Blechmusi”

The end of the festival was ushered in by the “Pirker Blechmusi”, who delighted the visitors with their repertoire of Bavarian and Bohemian music. The highlight was the “Bohemian Dream”, which got the atmosphere going. Despite the occasional drizzle, the music of the “Pirker Blechmusi” got all the visitors, young and old, onto the dance floor and led to a successful end to an eventful day.
