Plex a year ago, it unveiled a Discover feature to help find movies and series scattered across dozens of different streaming platforms. According to the magazine Android Authority the beta version should end during the first quarter and Discover will be available for free to all users.
The search engine already works in a similar way today JustWatch or domestic Movie thor. Integrating directly into the Plex media center, which people can also use as a player for locally stored files, but may be more convenient. All the more so because Discover not only tells you that the movie XXX is available on YYY, but also directs you with one click to the website or a specific place in the relevant application where the video will start. (If you have it purchased or as part of a subscription.)
So it’s still not ideal where all videos are really available in one app, but it’s the best that can be achieved in a fragmented market. In the Czech environment, however, Plex Discover still has great reserves, because it cannot access domestic video stores (Voyo, O2 TV, etc.). And he doesn’t have much in common with Czech names either, so Loners does not know, although when entering Loners it finds the movie and obediently says it’s part of a subscription to Netflix, HBO Max, and can be bought or rented via iTunes.
In the future, it may be possible to purchase directly through Plex. According to TechCrunche namely, after several delays, the service will finally launch its own video rental service in the second quarter. It will work on the principle of TVOD (transactional video on demand), so individual films will be rented for a certain period of time. It will not be a purchase or a Netflix subscription.
Today, Plex already allows you to watch over 50,000 movies for free or with advertising, but these are things that are not good enough to run at three in the morning on Barrandova.
