Bulgaria is standing on the brink. I see a new wave of children leaving our country and this should be a signal for Bulgarian politicians. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev (2012-2017) told bTV on Sunday evening.
“There is always a need for mediators, but this time I think that a different time has come – a time for separation, a time for responsible politicians. From this point of view, I am optimistic that there are several very serious problems that are so painful that they will force politicians to take their responsible decisions,” he commented.
Plevneliev was appointed by GERB leader Boyko Borisov after the previous parliamentary elections, won by his party, as a mediator in the talks with the other political parties to form a government with the first mandate. Former Foreign Minister Solomon Passy was part of the contact group. However, they ended unsuccessfully for all three political forces, which received files from President Rumen Radev to form a regular cabinet.
Plevneliev recalled Olaf Scholz’s visit to Romania and pointed out that the German chancellor did not stop praising our northern neighbors, but did not mention a single word about our country.
“If they separate us from Romania, do you know what will happen? Network from the Danube River, network with Serbia and Turkey. Bulgaria will be a buffer zone for migrants, the periphery, nationalism and populism,” predicts Rosen Plevneliev.
According to him, Bulgaria’s entry into the Eurozone decides the future of Bulgarian children.
“At the moment, Romania is full of strategic investments, and Bulgaria has none. This should say enough to those politicians who explain that they are thinking about how to return Bulgaria’s children to the country. What I see is a new wave of outflow of children from Bulgaria, if we do not strengthen towards the Eurozone,” he said.
Rosen Plevneliev also drew attention to the fact that the municipalities will suffer from the lack of budget. He is categorical that our country needs judicial reform, modernization of the country and balance in the country.
