Elections are the purgatory of democracy. This is what the President of the Republic of Bulgaria in the period 2012-2017, Rosen Plevneliev, said in “The Day Begins with Georgi Lyubenov” on BNT.
He predicts that with the third term he will not become a government. “If things don’t happen with the first two terms, the third will be almost impossible. We are going to elections. They are the purgatory of democracy. What worries me is that we had a record low voter turnout in the previous elections. Come on, enough of this ranting , come up with two or three strategic messages,” urged Plevneliev.
In the period 2012-2017, the president also commented on the expulsion of 70 Russian diplomats. “In the case of the Russians, it would be very nice to show some evidence and realize that now is a good time to be able to have this debate in society to heal. We can thank but not bow of Russia, because it freed us,” Plevneliev pointed out. However, he specified that the Soviet Union did not liberate us in 1944. “We are not treating ourselves as a society of Russophiles and Russophobes, we are sinking further into this division, which is not good. I believe that the Prime Minister simply decided in the last days before to leave, to strengthen his fan club. We have brought the policy of dividing into fan clubs. One against the other is like Levski, against CSKA. Dear politicians, look for bridges to each other,” urged Rosen Plenveliev.
“Humble yourself,” the president also said in the period 2012-2017. He noted that Kiril Petkov is with his horns forward again. “Because he knows that we are going to elections, because he knows that his voters are voters who the more you incite them against GERB and the more you talk around the clock about corruption in Bulgaria, which you have not revealed, and the more you attack Russia in one way or another way, you motivate your fan club,” he added. According to him, we need a new government in which to seek agreement and consensus.
Plevneliev commented on Lena Borislavova’s claims about people who took BGN 4,000 each to speak in a vague defense. “It can’t be, aman, I’m fed up with lists going around. Finally, take out the evidence,” urged Plevneliev. He stated that he was impressed by how Borislavova gave political, once again populist qualifications. “He tells the president of Bulgaria that he is a politician from the past. This “politician from the past” that I have criticized has at least 4 more years to work. I think that in 4 years we will have long forgotten who Lena Borislavova is,” said Plevneliev . According to him, Radev is not a politician from the past.
