Boyko Borisov has no chance to form a minority government, former president Rosen Plevneliev announced in an interview for bTV.
“I believe that the only possible option is to look for a broad coalition, armed with patience and wisdom, to reach an agreement. If he wants to play this general battle, which also determines the future of Bulgaria, he must react in a different way,” explained the former head of state.
“The two strong men of the day in Bulgarian politics – Boyko Borisov and Rumen Radev – have already positioned themselves. We must pay attention to this coming battle, which I call the “general battle.” One has been prime minister three times and has good relations with the EU, and the second has a second presidential term, is ambitious and wants to enter the political arena,” he explained.
“If there is no government, Bulgaria will enter a lasting and very serious political crisis. Bulgaria will find itself in a situation of even greater protest and anti-system vote. Naturally, President Radev will have all the cards in his hand to take power,” Plevneliev also commented.
“I think that Bulgaria can have a government with a program for 30 months, in which five priorities are set. Such a program is feasible – you enter Schengen and the Eurozone, modernization of the state, the implementation of reforms and a good playing of geopolitical cards,” he added.
