The coronation of King Charles on May 6 will be surrounded by festivities. Buckingham Palace announced this on Saturday evening.
A special concert will be held at Windsor Castle on May 7. That is produced and broadcast live by the BBC.
It is not yet known who will perform, but according to Buckingham Palace it will be “international music icons and contemporary artists”. Also a “world class” orchestra plays, and there are “some of the greatest entertainers and dancers”.
The Coronation Choir is also on stage. These are singers from, among others, refugee, LGBTI and sign language choirs. A few thousand British people can get two free tickets for the concert through a lottery.
People from the United Kingdom are called upon to organize a so-called Coronation Big Lunch on May 7. The initiative should combat loneliness and allow friendships to flourish.
A day later, people are called upon to dedicate themselves to their fellow man during The Big Help Out. Several charities hold activities where Britons can help and do something for the community.
Earlier it was announced that Charles will be crowned on May 6 in Westminster Abbey in London. The service contains religious aspects and traditions.
King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla arrive in a procession, The King’s Procession, from Buckingham Palace. After the service, the royal couple will return there, together with the rest of the royal family. At the end of the day, the Royal Family will greet the public from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
