Puskas Prize winner Son Heung-min (29) scored a goal at the stadium named after Puskas. The Asian Football Federation (AFC) delivered a congratulatory message on the 19th (hereinafter referred to as Korean time) on its official Twitter, saying, “It is an amazing and enjoyable coincidence.”
Son Heung-min scored the first goal in the 1st leg of the 2020-21 European Football Federation (UEFA) Europa League match against Wolfsberg (Austria) held at the Fuskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary on the 19th (Korean time), leading a 4-1 win.
Son Heung-min became the main character of the 2020 Fuskas Awards by scoring a fantastic goal against Burnley on December 8, 2019.
The Puskas Prize was established in 2009 after Ferenc Puskas, the best hero and wizard of Hungarian football history, and is awarded the most beautiful goal of the year.
Son Heung-min, who was the first Korean to be honored with the Puskas Prize, caused a lot of attention, unfortunately, scored a goal again at the stadium named Puskas and continued the relationship.

It is a’pleasant coincidence’ as AFC expressed it. Fuskas Arena is a stadium that opened in 2019 and is used as a home stadium for the Hungarian national team, not the club team.
So, unless Korea played an A-match away from Hungary, there was no way to step on the field, and the way to score at this stadium with Tottenham was even more difficult. But there were variables. It is a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).
The Austrian government did not allow Tottenham Hotspur to enter Austria because of the prevention of the spread of Corona 19. Eventually, the match was moved to the neutral Hungarian Fuskas Arena instead of Wolfsberg.
Thanks to this, Son Heung-min was able to navigate the Fuskas Arena and fired a clean scoring cannon as if boasting the dignity of the winner.
After the game, Son Heung-min enjoyed the’pleasant coincidence’, saying, “The experience of playing in the stadium named after the’legendary soccer player’ Fuskas was special.”
