New images related to PlayStation VR2, Sony’s range of equipment for virtual reality, have been released.
Sony has revealed a first look at the design of its PlayStation VR2 hardware. In addition to being elegant, it can be said that appearance is not the only thing that this second generation of equipment intended for virtual reality brings. In a post published on Blog PlayStation, Sony’s Senior VP of Platform Experience Hideaki Nishino says that the PlayStation VR2 hardware was designed to have a shape similar to the brand’s signature controllers. The PS VR2 Sense controller has an orbital shape, and the rounded edges are similar to what Sony has done with the DualSense and Pulse headphones.
But the changes are not just of an aesthetic nature. Nishino writes that Sony has taken into account the feedback about the ergonomics of the headphones, and that worked to balance the weight of the peripheral. There will also be ways to adjust lenses and an overall slimmer and more elegant design.
Amidst all the changes and tweaks, the PlayStation VR2 headset also received an air vent. Sony’s senior artistic director, Yujin Morisawa, said that he wanted to create a kind of fan in the headphones, between the top surface and the front surface of the device, similar to the air vents that already exist on the PlayStation 5. The idea is to allow the air to disperse and prevent the lens from fogging up during play. It’s good, especially for those who play more intense titles like “Beat Saber” or “Pistol Whip”.
Unfortunately, and although you can already pre-order the products, a date has not yet been set for the launch of Sony’s second virtual reality device.
What do you think of PlayStation VR2? Is virtual reality an environment you are curious to explore?
