JAKARTA – Sony introduced a new loyalty program to gamers under the name PlayStation Stars. With the aim of providing a meaningful gaming experience and can create lifetime memories for gamers.
Basically, Playstation Stars can be used to get prizes or gifts reward if gamers are able to complete the given challenge.
PlayStation Stars will begin to be used for free by gamers of the game console made by Sony at the end of this year. After signing up to become a PlayStation Stars member, gamers will be able to earn rewards by completing various campaigns and activities.
For example the “Monthly Check-In” campaign which only requires gamers to play any game to receive rewards. In addition, there are also other campaigns that require gamers to win tournaments, get certain trophies, or even become the first player to achieve a platinum blockbuster title in their respective local time zones.
All PlayStation Stars members will have the opportunity to earn loyalty points. These points can later be exchanged for prizes in the catalog, including money that will be put into the PSN wallet and also certain PlayStation Store products.
As an added benefit, for PlayStation Plus members who are registered on PlayStation Stars, they will also automatically earn points for making purchases on the PlayStation Store.
“We hope this new program brings back memories of games from the past while getting you excited for the future with PlayStation: commemorating the era of gaming we created together, charting new paths to explore, and bringing players together for a global celebration,” wrote Vice President, Network Advertising, Loyalty & Licensed Merchandise Playstation, Grace Chen in an announcement on their blog.
Furthermore, as part of PlayStation Stars Grace also revealed that Sony will be launching a new type of gift called “digital collectibles.”
The collection will be as diverse as the company’s product portfolio and franchises that are digital representations of what PlayStation fans can enjoy. Includes figurines of iconic characters from games and other forms of entertainment, as well as valuable devices that take advantage of Sony’s history of innovation.
The digital collection will be constantly updated, and there will also be very rare collectibles to fight for, or something surprising to collect just for fun.
“This is just the beginning for PlayStation Stars, and the program will continue to evolve over time. We are currently conducting some initial tests on the program before launching it later this year in a phased regional rollout,” wrote Grace Chen.
