PlayStation Spartacus – the beginning of a new Sony chapter?

entertainment in console everyday life. Challenge after challenge. The contemporary confrontation between Sony and Microsoft has been going on continuously since the launch of the Xbox brand. The chances were leveled during the seventh generation, the unfortunate one for all Japanese gamedev.

The Japanese, however, did not stand up with their honor, they decided to make Western compromises and production methods. It did not end only with the approach of game developers. Large producers have started to adapt to the dynamic market environment. Contrary to the assurances of free online gameplay, it turned out otherwise. The PlayStation Plus modeled on Xbox Live Gold offered the former free multiplayer fun as part of the subscription. June 2010 is just a sketch of today’s picture of the clash of ecosystem giants. Japan is just modeling future solutions in this most forward-looking and profitable category. Will we finally get to the point where even having a particular console becomes merely an addition to the digitized, all-connected rest? Microsoft has been writing this scenario for a long time. Even if it swears otherwise. We have been living in accordance with subscription services for some two decades, when telecommunications networks began their expansion aimed at Polish households. One or two such services will make a difference to anyone today?

The era of adaptation

Competition forces progress, if not progress, then relative adaptation. Sony painstakingly flies under the radar of borrowings from competitors. He does it so skillfully that each announcement of new services in the field of services is received mega-positive. If another company had done so, there would be polite comments branded with the word “plagiarism”. The company, however, has this quality privilege thanks to the tightened releases exclusively for the PlayStation family. Hence, Spartacus is spoken of in superlatives. God of War: Ragnarok available to users of the new program on release? The company’s greed, which has been intensifying over the last year and a half, will not allow it. Apparently the corporation cannot afford such generosity towards its (p) devoted fans – traditionalists. The public rightly juxtaposes Spartacus as a response to the ever-growing catalog of possibilities offered by Xbox Game Pass. Phil Spencer’s bargaining chip influences the reception of the modern Xbox. The same Spencer will soon be awarded as a Lifetime Achievement Award at the next DICE Awards Gala.

He is credited with influencing the development and direction of today’s gaming industry. The magical E3 2017 trade fair has changed a lot. We made a number of entries about them documenting the validity of those decisions, so we refer those who are interested a bit back. The redefinition of backward compatibility, the benefits of subscription gaming begin there. Over the course of almost five years, the landscape has undergone drastic changes. Sony finally had to answer with something. Redmond officials are often calling for an end to the era of console wars, but the service war is gaining momentum. How many physical releases have you purchased for the Xbox Series X | S taking advantage of the growing XGP roster? A difficult and banal question at the same time. Years ago, elaborations were written in defense of the boxed editions that still adorned the collections of the Puritan players. Meanwhile, everything flows in a stream, literally. We have entered the era of minimalism. There is no shortage of collector’s fanatics displaying their own “player corners”. Do I only get the impression that this state of affairs remains only a deeper echo of the past? The second phenomenon is the upward trend in the prices of games, especially those of the older date.

The deal occurs at auctions every few years, but is now naturally overstated. We will discuss this topic in more detail in one of the next articles. Sony and PlayStation are still an interactive encyclopedia of gaming history. The times of building the first, innovative solutions on the way to an even illusory three-dimensional in the world of consoles. History must be respected, but in times of highly retroactivity – promoted and sold again in a new, more accessible form. For PlayStation Spartacus, it may not be the definition of victory, but a good argument for the success of the initiative in the eyes of veterans of stationary gaming. Recreating a library of all previous PlayStation chapters is one of the more touched features of the new Sony service variant. Many unforgettable classics are hard to come by today due to their quick availability. For example, the Resident Evil trilogy will only guarantee access to the digital store on PlayStation 3. Not everyone has this luxury.

PlayStation Everywhere

PlayStation Spartacus

Accessibility variant from the so-called hand for retroactivists is an argument. Although Xbox has written an important chapter in the history of games, it is not tempting with such nostalgia as “Sony revolutionists”. PlayStation Spartacus was born in the eyes of the public thanks to the eloquent interference of Bloomberg and the Nate the Hate channel. Both sources emphasized the emphasis on backward compatibility by emulating games from the grandfather of PSX without excluding further Sony consoles. Retro fans bought this variant of the service. The question is, is it enough? Radical methods are needed to compete rationally with XGP. First, access to PlayStation Studios games on the day of their actual release. Jim Ryan will never agree to that. As he admitted, “the price increases with the quality”. Sony works a bit with lagging, but for a specific purpose. The four-year-old God of War quickly gained popularity among the PC brothers. The Uncharted series is set to debut soon as a computer. PlayStation Spartacus, according to available, fully informal information, will become a bridge between PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now.

As for the latter, I still maintain the opinion that it is a completely redundant leg in the entire Sony offer. Still poorly available in many countries without much success anywhere. The merger of PS Plus and PS Now into a centralized Spartacus may have the desired effect. The fan will naturally cover the PlayStation 5 and its predecessor, which becomes a lifeline in the face of the constant deficit of PS5. Sony denied the content related to increasing the production of PS4 as compensation. There are growing questions about the presence of PS Plus Video Now in the Spartacus offer. Netflix enters with its gameplay offer. Sony can go a step further as it has had a powerful internship in both fields of media culture. Both cinematic and interactive experience. The launch of the service according to insiders’ signs in heaven and earth is planned for this spring. The opportunity to play a nostalgic session, for example, in a one-night adventure of Leon and Claire on PS5 / PS4 will make you feel good. Along with the information about Spartacus, I was reminded of the Sony initiative that was rumored in the last decade, even during the lifetime of PlayStation 3. There was speculation about an automated trophy system for each production from the PSX lineage. What if Spartacus added visual cosmetics in the form of resolution and performance with trophy support? Microsoft was able to visualize the once modest dreams of older players, although with some exceptions. Sony has neglected the issue of backward compatibility with the classics over the years, so it’s time for some compensation.

Will Spartacus be something more? The entire ecosystem that binds PlayStation in all branches of digital entertainment? The gaming industry, which is moving into digitization, even requires this tactic for present and future generations. There are already announcements that we are witnessing the latest generation of consoles. The passage of all history and its contents into the heavens of data will sooner or later happen in the world of games. In part, the phenomenon has been around for years. PlayStation Spartacus is not a revolution, but an evolution in the world of Sony. A necessary evolution in the way of survival. If the service offensive of competition persists, PlayStation awaits the fate of Nintendo, following the path of independence and high prices. Ultimately, we would have a service Xbox, an exclusive PlayStation, and the rare Nintendo. You can choose the color you want. How do you view the subscription clash of giants? Or maybe Spartacus turns out to be only an accessory for Sony and players?
