Sony has finally presented the new virtual reality glasses for its PlayStation 5 game console. When the headset will be available, the Japanese technology group has not yet announced.
In 2016, Sony released its first virtual reality glasses, then for the PlayStation 4. The company sold more than five million units. Those glasses also work on the PS5, via a special adapter that users can request from Sony for free. However, the possibilities and image quality are not of the same level as those of the new headset.
The PS VR2, as the gadget is called in full, is again in white and black, and – which is completely new – comes with two round controllers with handles in the middle. With the previous glasses, gamers could use one or two so-called Move Controllers, which stood out because of the colored sphere at the end. However, these were not developed specifically for the VR headset, but also worked together with games that used a PlayStation Camera, for example.
Improved ergonomics
According to PlayStation, the focus of the new design was not only on a more elegant appearance, but also on improved ergonomics. For example, the image quality is better, users will be able to adjust the lens distance of the glasses to their eyes, there is a built-in ‘motor’ for haptic feedback and special ventilation holes must prevent the glasses from fogging.
