PlayStation is difficult to work with, say game developers

Source: https://kotaku.com/playstation-is-hard-to-work-with-devs-say-…

Stumbled across this article where developers tell about their experiences developing to Playstation. They mention differences on different storefronts and visibility. Earlier, it was also reported that Sony is obsessed with creating blockbuster successes.

Some points from the article

Difficulty selling / appearing on playstation store
Harder to work with Playstation than other places
Playstation only cares about their own AAA games and does not care about other developers
Do not know what Indie means
The problem has been around for a long time without being fixed in any way
Costs $ 25,000 to get a visible position in the playstation store
Some developers say that 3% of sales are from PS compared to xbox which is 30%
One developer released DLC which sold 7 times on PS store compared to xbox which sold 20,000

Most people who have been in contact with Kotaku testify as the same difficulties with Sony. What Nintendo and Microsoft, for example, do better is communication, which helps with the process.

I personally think it’s a little scary how big players lock themselves into their own ecosystem and do not give freedom to either developers or consumers.

What are your reflections on, for example, the PS Store as a consumer? Is it easy to find new games or are you just recommended the same old AAA game all the time?
