Playstation in 2023. What is Sony preparing for PS5, PS4 and PC gamers?

PlayStation 5 debuted in 2020, and while Sony initially faced the problem of meeting the huge interest in the console, now the equipment is going to more players, so the Japanese company is starting the next phase of its plan. On January 26 it will debut on the market DualSense edge, which is the first official pro-controller from the creators of PlayStation, which will substantially improve the gaming experience. The device will still offer all the functions of a standard pad and, in addition, players will use paddles, substitute analogs or control different triggers. The proposal is already gathering the first very positive opinions, but there is a fundamental problem here: the controller was priced at PLN 1,199.

This isn’t the end of spending for loyal PlayStation fans in early 2023, as the release date is set for February 22nd PlayStation VR2. We will buy completely new generation Sony glasses for PLN 2,999, and due to the lack of backward compatibility, it is worth preparing a budget for several games or even adding a charger (PLN 229) for modern PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers to the set .

Sony’s strategy is really interesting, because for a good start of the year the company will provide gamers with two very interesting and expensive devices… and it’s possible that it’s not over. Two sources inform about the upcoming updated model of PlayStation 5. The console with a removable drive can look completely different, and considering that PS5 debuted on the market in 2020 and engineers are constantly improving the body by releasing improved models, we can suspect that even the new PlayStation 5 will perform better. Rather, we shouldn’t expect more power, but the company will certainly encourage its devoted fans to the new proposition.

Sony continues to invade…

In 2023 we will also see more previews and announcements of games that, although born on PlayStation consoles, will eventually make their debut on personal computers. Sony has already set a release date The Last of Us Part I (03.03)and at the same time, the producer and publisher announced that in early 2023, more players will play in I come back.

However, that’s probably where the attraction begins, as Sony still has some seriously solid games that could debut on Steam and the Epic Games Store in the coming months. The legendary data leak from GeForce Now servers also lets you prepare Demon souls, Ghost of Tsushima, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Forbidden Horizon West and Granturismo 7but honestly, I have the impression that Sony will announce or even launch three more games on PC: Bluepoint Games, a samurai story and a story full of lives. We will wait until 2024 for Aloy’s second adventure and fast cars.

Still, it’s a very solid chunk of potential blockbusters that should raise players’ expectations – after all, Demon’s Souls will make more people wait for Bluepoint Games’ new game, Ghost of Tsushima will pique fans interested in the film, and the announcement of the continuation , and Ratchet & Clank is a really sure thing, which will show the next audience how good the games created by Insomniac Games are.

The Japanese look to the big and small screen…

Sony will start 2023 with the hardware, but the company will also provide interesting attractions for viewers to get to know “The Last of Us”. The HBO series raises expectations, because the first materials look just fantastic – and Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann will offer a great experience for gamers familiar with the reality of the universe. The first episode of the series will air on January 15th.

We’ll see in the first months of 2023 “Twisted Metal”, but right now it’s hard to say what quality a developed story for Peacock will deliver. At the same time, I hope that Sony will take care of a wider distribution, because the aforementioned platform is not yet available in many countries – the Poles are still waiting for the premiere.

The company will also offer spectators “Great Tourism”, which is the story of a young gamer who, thanks to a series of Sony games, became a real professional driver and managed to make his big dream come true. There are many stars in the film (David Harbor – “Stranger Things”, “Hellboy”, Orlando Bloom – the series “Lord of the Rings”, “Carnival Row”), and experienced director Neill Blomkamp (“District 9” , “Elysium” is in charge of the project) , “Chappie”), so Sony fans should look forward to the premiere – this will take place on August 11th.

Sony will certainly also present specifics on its next productions in the coming months – “Horizon” (Netflix), “Ghost of Tsushima”, “Gravity Rush”, “God of War” (Amazon) have already been announced, so we will definitely know information about the creators and actors involved in the projects.

The company does not forget the great partners…

In addition to DualSense Edge and “The Last of Us”, Sony will offer gamers in January The prophesied. The first entirely next-gen IP prepared by Square Enix collects mixed opinions, but fans of the big worlds should get ready for an interesting proposal. The title will offer very dynamic combat, which should encourage some PS5 owners to take a stand: the premiere is scheduled for January 24th and the PC debut will take place at the same time.

PlayStation partners will also be handling a number of new games coming to PlayStation VR 2 – one mode has already been announced, among others, Resident Evil Village VRsupport for No Man’s Sky VRnew edition Among us VR or The Dark Pictures Switchback VR – Supermassive Games will offer another interesting “crosshair”. The list of previews in this case is large, because many developers will want to take the opportunity to win the hearts of VR fans.

The premiere will take place on 22 June Final Fantasy XVI and this is another game prepared by Square Enix for 2023 for PlayStation 5. The first trailers raise expectations, because the developers have decided on an interesting location for the events and the production simply looks very good.

The list of upcoming previews probably won’t be missing Silent Hill 2 Remake. According to some rumors, the position will debut in the second half of 2023 and we can be sure of one thing: the whole world will be talking about this game. The Bloober Team title will kick off the return of the Konami series, but will the Poles deliver the project at the right level? The creators have ambitious plans to become one of the top teams developing scary stories, and the Silent Hill 2 refresh should tell if the company can jump into the first league.

There will certainly be plenty of games on Sony consoles in 2023 that will be available to a wider audience – Suicide Squad: Death to the Justice League, Hogwarts Legacy, street fighter 6, Devil IV, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Dead Island 2, Atomic heart, Alan Wake II, Mirage from Assassin’s Creed, Like a dragon: they were!, Wo Long: fallen dynasty, Avatar: Pandora’s Frontiers, Dead space, Resident Evil 4, Skull and bones or Octopath Traveler II these are productions that will surely interest a large audience… and the Japanese company should again offer “PlayStation benefits”, for example, to provide its customers with demo versions or further additions.

And what are the PlayStation studios preparing?

In recent years, PlayStation studios have not failed to deliver very strong, often brilliant productions, and 2023 will be no different. The Japanese are currently focusing on the promotion of the equipment and we hear about the upcoming games in preparation for PlayStation VR 2. For the Japanese company, by far the most important title in the coming months will be Horizon The call of the mountain – is the first AAA game developed for VR by Sony teams. The title looks good, but the most important thing here will be the experience… after all, PS VR2 is supposed to deliver a truly next-gen experience.

Insomniac Games has confirmed important news: in 2023 we will play Spider man 2. Players will take on the role of at least one Spider to stop Venom… the studio will certainly exploit the potential of PlayStation 5. Sony enthusiasts must also remember that in the coming months we will know the details or even play Factions – the online mode of The Last of Us Part II has turned into a full-fledged game. It will certainly be an interesting experience for the fans and also for the developers of Naughty Dog, who have accustomed us to offering story-oriented games, and this time the creators are developing a completely online position. In addition, the game will receive excellent post-launch support, which will certainly require large investments from the company.

The premiere will take place on April 19 Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, the first expansion of this year’s hit Sony. The adventure will be available exclusively on PS5, which should make the developers delight a large audience with beautiful graphics. The adventure will lead the daredevils to a new world.

However, can we count on bigger surprises from PlayStation Studios? Sony should finally announce a secret project Bluepoint games (Metal Gear Solid Remake? Bloodborne Remake? New IP?), and we can’t forget that Pirate join PlayStation was already developing unannounced horror on Unreal Engine 5. Guerrilla games is preparing not only the aforementioned Burning Shores, but the developers are also working on the development of the Horizon brand (the third part and an online production) and maybe the company will be tempted by the first teaser of one of the proposals? In 2023 we will also be able to get to know a new game Pixelopusbecause the creators of Concrete Genie have been preparing a secret production for years. Sony could also show Marvel’s Wolverine, reveal the next project Housemark I Sony Bend or present Ghost of Tsushima 2.

However, it’s no secret that one thing cannot be missed in 2023: Sony must finally invite gamers to a big PlayStation show, during which we will get to know the company’s plans for the next few years. The company is now focusing on different markets, so we can expect a diverse experience, but the Japanese should play more open cards with their community by showcasing games that all PlayStation 5 owners can expect.
