‘PlayStation-exclusive WiLD by Michel Ancel has been deleted’ – Gaming – News

The PlayStation-exclusive WiLD, which Rayman creator Michel Ancel worked on, appears to have been scrapped. So says the usually well-informed game journalist Jeff Grubb. The project was announced in 2014 but nothing has been heard of the game for years.

“I can confirm that WiLD is all set. There is no more WiLD. WiLD is dead,” Grubb said in his paid GrubbSnax video series for Giant Bomb. According to him, Michel Ancel may have left the project. He would no longer work on this and the project would have been scrapped, also writes Video Games Chronicle.

Grubb states that the team behind WiLD may have wanted to stay together to work on other projects. “I don’t know what happened to that, but they were like, ‘We’re not working on WiLD anymore, but we do have a lot of talent here, so maybe we can work on some things,'” the journalist adds.

WiLD was announced by Sony in 2014 as a PS4 game created by a new studio of Rayman and Beyond Good and Evil creator Michel Ancel. The game has only been shown once since then, during Paris Games Week in 2015. In 2017, Michel Ancel did share an image of WiLD on his Instagram page. Tweakers published in 2015 a preview of WiLD.

Last year, however, Ancel announced that he would be leaving the gaming industry after 30 years in the industry. He then stated that his teams, working on WiLD and Beyond Good and Evil 2, had been “autonomous for many months” and that his departure would make no difference. WiLD now seems to have been deleted after all. Ubisoft recently stated that development of Beyond Good and Evil 2 is continuing and “progressing well,” it also writes GamesRadar.
