Suara.com – CEO Sony PlayStation, Jim Ryan, said Virtual Reality technology (VR) still has a long way to go to be part meaning for game world.
Even so, Sony has not given up on the technology. The statement indicates that an update for the headset Sony PlayStation VR is likely to last for many years.
“PlayStation believes in VR. Sony believes in VR and we believe in the future, VR will represent a meaningful interactive entertainment component. But is it this year? No. Will it be next year? No. But we believe it will come at a certain time, “Ryan said, as quoted The Verge on Friday (30/10/2020).
Ryan added that the latest console PlayStation 5 which will be released on November 12th also supports old PlayStation VR headsets with special adapters.

Sony seems to have a pretty mature plan for VR development. In April 2019, Mark Cerny, the PlayStation systems architect, told Wired that VR is an important technology for Sony, but didn’t provide any further details.
Dominic Mallinson, head of research and development, also said that the new VR headset will not be released with the PlayStation 5. However, Mallinson talked about the technology that can be embedded in the next generation PSVR, such as eye tracking features and updated controllers.
