PlayStation 5: Three Years Since Launch, 40 Million Players, 2500 Games, and New TV Commercial

Next week marks three years since the launch PlayStation 5 to market. Sony takes this opportunity to thank the more than 40 million players who have joined the worldwide PS5 community. At the same time, the company recaps and brings a new TV commercial called Experience it on PS5.

The new ad (far above) highlights PlayStation 5 features such as 4K visuals, 3D audio, an ultra-fast SSD, and the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the DualSense controller. The spot highlights the emotions that players are supposed to enjoy on PS5.

Sony says that over three years, teams under PlayStation Studios and third-party developers have offered on the PS5 more than 2500 gamesincluding recent hits like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Final Fantasy XVI.

“We’re heading into the Christmas season with the biggest range of consoles we’ve had since the launch of the PS5, including a new smaller PS5 model [ten v Evropě zatím nebude, poz. redakce]. Players can also purchase a PS5 bundle with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, EA Sports FC 24 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III,” Sony writes.

“Over the past 12 months, the teams at PlayStation Studios and our partners have delivered a steady stream of critically acclaimed hits, including God of War Ragnarök, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Diablo IVHogwarts Legacy, Horizon Call of the Mountain, Mortal Kombat 1, Star Wars Jedi: SurvivorStreet Fighter 6, Humanity and remakes Dead Space a Resident Evil 4.“

Last but not least, Sony recalls new hardware products and accessories: PlayStation Portal for streaming games from PS5, the Pulse Explore wireless headset and the Access controller for the disabled.

“While 2023 was a spectacular year for games, we can look forward to even more great games next year, including Helldivers 2, Concord, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Tekken 8, Prince of Persia: The Lost CrownPacific Drive and others,” adds Sony, without mentioning any major title directly from PlayStation Studios. This is de facto only Concord, which is a PvP multiplayer action from Firewalk Studios (ex-authors of Call of Duty, Destiny and Titanfall) for PS5 and PC.

At the same time, Sony players have been blaming the lack of information for a long time, because no one knows what the Japanese are planning in their studios and they are rightly afraid that 2024 will not be another disappointment. Instead, he hears about problems with the development of live service titles.
