Although the Japan-based electronics company has yet to make a public announcement, Bloomberg News reports that Sony originally planned to discontinue the PS4 model in late 2021.

But recently, Sony told its manufacturing partners that they would continue to make PS4 consoles for another year.
The number of PS4s produced in the next year is estimated to be 1 million units, which can be purchased by the end of 2022, as quoted from PCMag, Sunday (16/1/2022).
Sony reproduces PS4 to offset the pressures of PS5 production, which the company clearly couldn’t keep up with.

Worldwide, more than 116 million PS4s have been sold since the console’s debut, according to Statista, compared to 13.4 million PS5 consoles sold since the model was released in November 2020.
