Sony has adjusted its forecast from 15 to 11 million copies of the PS5 for this fiscal year, which runs through March 2021. According to Bloomberg Sony would expect 4 million fewer copies due to problems with the game console chip.
The chip is specially designed for the PS5, but due to production problems the numbers would be disappointing. In some cases, only 50 percent of the manufactured chips would function properly, but that percentage would increase by now. In July, Sony increased production to meet the expected high demand during the holiday season.

‘PS5 cheaper than Xbox Series X’
Sony will hold a presentation on Wednesday evening at 10 p.m. Dutch time in which the price and release date of the PlayStation 5 are revealed. According to Bloomberg analysts, the PS5 with disc tray would cost $ 449, the version that only plays digital games $ 400 – presumably euro prices will be pretty much the same.
That would be cheaper than Microsoft’s Xbox Series X. That got last week a release date of 10 November and a price of 500 euros. The Xbox Series X has few exclusive games, and has to rely on the service instead GamePass, where players can play hundreds of games unlimited for a fixed amount per month.

‘Influence on sales is not too bad’
Game-analist Daniel Ahmad thinks that the production issues will not affect sales of the PS5 at first. Despite the problems, Sony has a slightly larger offer of the PS5 in the first six months than in 2013 of the PS4: 11 million versus about 10 million.
