There is no doubt that a new generation of consoles could excite a group of users willing to open their wallets. The idea of a new Xbox series or a “PlayStation 5 Pro” would make more than one open their wallet to embrace the next big step in gaming.
The television manufacturer TCL seems to know this matter very well and now everything seems to indicate that it has played with this enthusiasm to position its offer.
A recent publication has echoed an event held in Poland, in which TCL showed a timeline talking about nothing more and nothing less than video game consoles and their generational progress.
Said slide goes from the launch of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2013 to end with what could be the launch of a new Xbox series and a PlayStation 5 Pro between 2023 and 2024.
This has generated all kinds of speculation and doubts about the information that TCL could have about the launch route of Sony and Microsoft.
The truth is that nothing can be taken as true. In reality, it is speculation that borders on a risky marketing gimmick.
A PlayStation 5 Pro? A move from TCL
We must start by recognizing that if TCL had confirmed information about the arrival of a new Xbox or the so-called PlayStation 5 Pro, it could not announce it just like that. This information is usually provided under a confidentiality agreement.
So why does this mention appear? The answer is none other than the reduced possibilities of 8K to be a sales trigger for the television market.

We all know that gamers, in addition to the accessories of the game, are more often looking for televisions that guarantee the best gaming experience.
To this must be added the sales force that 4K technology has lost due to its greater penetration and the difficulties of 8K to generate synergy in this regard.
With content producers still in the immature stage of adapting to 4K, the benefits of 8K are obsolete yet to be released widely. Your marketing argument is therefore lost. Users are barely experienced in 4K to want to jump to 8K.
It is right here where the discourse around the speculated PlayStation 5 Pro for 2024 gains relevance. It is a closer and perhaps real concept than a world of entertainment adapted to 8K.
So the idea of a PlayStation 5 Pro could help TCL sell more than an already depreciated 8K. Remember that Omdia has drastically reduced its sales forecast for 8K televisions.
The tracking firm originally expected that consumers would buy 9 million 8K TVs by 2025; the figure now drops to just 2.7 million 8K TVs by 2026.
A PlayStation 5 Pro is far from being confirmed by Sony; the same goes for a new Xbox series. However, it is clear that manufacturers like TCL are waiting for it with greater desperation than the gamers themselves.
